Makita Cordless Impact Wrench
Makita power tools are well known already for being high quality, durable products and the Makita cordless impact wrench range are no different. At the time of writing this article Makita produce an array of eight cordless impact wrenches ranging from a 9.6V Cordless Angle Driver right up to an 18V high torque, LXT Lithium-Ion Cordless 1/2” Impact Wrench.
Whatever your need for light industrial use there is a Makita cordless impact wrench for you.
Makita 9.6V Cordless Angle Socket Driver 6706DWA
This long bodied (15 and a half inches) cordless impact driver manages to get into spaces where no other tool would reach. The tool has a narrow head at 1-11/32” which help it gain access to tight spaces that other power tools would not.
This socket driver has five torque settings rated at: 17.4, 30.4, 41.6, 52.0 and 69.4 in.lbs of torque supplied by a 3/8” drive. Combined with the Makita Auto Battery Shutoff (ABS) system this tool delivers predictable, reliable levels of torque every time. The ABS system shuts the battery off at a 20% charge level to ensure consistent power.
Additional Information
The tool has a rubber coated tool head to stop scratches on the work piece and an electronic clutch to prevent application of excessive force and thread stripping. With a battery installed the unit weighs around 3.3lbs
One of the criticisms often thrown at cordless power tools generally is that they lack power. For that reason the next power tool we will look at here is a top of the range 18V Makita cordless impact wrench.
Makita Cordless Angle Impact Wrench 3/8” Drive 18V LXT Lithium-Ion Model: BTL063
The previous tool is very good for light applications that require minimal torque but if a case is to be made for the power of cordless impact wrenches then an 18 volt tool is going to be required. Thankfully this Makita power tool fits that job admirably.
The Makita BTL063 delivers a whopping 44ft.lbs of torque (530in.lbs) while being only slightly heavier than the 6706DWA. The BTL063 weighs in at 3.7lbs with battery installed and has an overall length of 15-1/4” and so is therefore actually a little shorter despite the increased power output.
This model is also a 3/8” drive, but has a number of other extra features. The tool has a LED to illuminate the work area, which can be really useful in tight, cramped conditions with little natural light available. This model has a Makita motor capable of delivering 0-2,000RPM and 0-3,000IPM and has a variable speed trigger if fine control is required. The grip is soft to the touch and comfortable in the hand.
This Makita 18V cordless impact wrench is perfect for many light industrial or automotive applications where more power is required.
